Nondestructive Testing (NDT)

Nondestructive Testing (NDT) is needed to verify the quality of the product, being it forged, melted, welded, laminated, drawn or extruded, without destroying it or altering its dimensions and/or features

Nondestructive Testing (NDT) enables to verify the quality of a product, being it forged, melted, welded, laminated, drawn or extruded, without destroying it or altering its dimensions and/or characteristics.
NDT is used above all to detect and determine the entity and the position (location and depth) of the defects, which are then assessed to understand whether they fall within the acceptability criteria or whether the can be removed by means of specific working.
Employing only internal staff holding a level-2 certification in compliance with the regulation ISO 9712 e SNT-TC-1A of the ASNT, we carry out Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Inspections (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Visual Inspections (VT) and interpretation of Radiographic Testing (RT), both at the Client's premises or "on site".

In addition, always without destroying the sample material, we carry out the following analyses:
- quantometric chemical analyses (PMI: Positive Material Identification) of iron, nickel, copper or aluminium-base alloys with the possibility of determining C, S, P, B e N as well;
- HV5 hardness tests by means of a portable instrument;
- assessment of ferrite content in materials and austenitic and duplex steel welds by means of a ferritometer
- evaluation of the relative magnetic permeability (μr).
